Do I need to be working in IT already?
No. The material starts at request intake and basic diagnostics, so someone doing informal support for an office, a school or a family business can follow it. What helps most is regular access to a Windows machine where you can open Event Viewer, Device Manager and a terminal without a policy blocking you.
Is this official CompTIA A+ or Microsoft exam preparation?
No, and the course is not affiliated with any certification body. Topics overlap in places — hardware triage, Windows tooling, network commands — but nothing here exempts you from an official exam, replaces one, or predicts your result on one.
How much hardware do I need for the hardware module?
None is mandatory. The module is written so you can follow the diagnostic logic on your own machine: SMART data, memory diagnostics, thermal behaviour, dock and peripheral tests. An old laptop you are allowed to open makes the reseating and cleaning steps easier to practise, but it is optional.
How long does it take, and is there a deadline?
About 22 hours of study, usually spread across two to four weeks alongside a job. There is no fixed timetable and no cohort: the material stays available in your panel, and you take the assessment when you are ready for it.
