The Linux System Administration Certificate from ecertificate.pro is an independent, self-paced online program covering filesystem structure, user and permission management, systemd service control, software management on APT and RPM based distributions, and log inspection with journalctl and /var/log. It is issued by ecertificate.pro, an independent training provider active since 2016, and it is not a government-approved, accredited or licensed qualification. It does not grant a professional title, a legal licence or any guarantee of employment, and it is not recorded in any third-party registry. What you will be able to do

  • Navigate a Linux filesystem by purpose: know what belongs in /etc, /var, /usr and /opt, and trace a full partition with df -h, du -x --max-depth=1 and lsblk -f.
  • Set ownership and access with chown, chmod, umask and POSIX ACLs, and explain what setuid, setgid and the sticky bit actually change at execution time.
  • Write, override and repair systemd units: Type= and Restart= choices, drop-in overrides created with systemctl edit, and a failed service traced through systemctl status and journalctl -xeu.
  • Manage software on both APT and RPM hosts: add a signed repository, hold a version, find which package owns a file with dpkg -S or rpm -qf, and resolve a dependency conflict.
  • Build an incident timeline from logs by filtering journalctl with -u, -p and --since, then correlating it against rotated text files under /var/log.
  • Diagnose a slow or unresponsive host with ps, top, lsof, ss -tulpn and /proc, and confirm whether the kernel out-of-memory killer terminated a process.
  • Harden remote access: key-based SSH authentication, sshd_config changes verified from a second session, and host firewall rules with ufw or firewalld.

Is this certificate accredited or government-approved?
No. ecertificate.pro is an independent training provider, not a university, government body or accreditation council. The certificate documents that you completed this program and passed its assessment. It is not a licence, a protected professional title or an official qualification, and it does not replace vendor exams.
Which distribution should I practise on?
Any current Debian, Ubuntu, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux or Fedora system. The material teaches the APT and RPM sides side by side, so keeping one of each around, for example an Ubuntu virtual machine and a Rocky Linux container, lets you follow every example without translating commands.
How is the certificate delivered?
It is issued to your private panel on ecertificate.pro once you pass the assessment; it is never sent as an email attachment. Each certificate carries a unique verification code that can be checked only in the ecertificate.pro database. No third-party registry is involved.
Will this certificate get me a job as a system administrator?
No honest provider can promise that, and we do not. The certificate is evidence of structured self-study. Hiring depends on your practical work, your references and the interview. Use it alongside a home lab, a set of scripts or a server you actually maintain.
How long does it take, and is there a deadline?
The material is scoped at roughly 24 hours of study. It is self-paced with no fixed schedule and no deadline, so you can spread it across evenings or work through it in one concentrated week. The certificate carries no expiry date, and the final assessment can be retaken if you do not pass on the first attempt.
Do I need root access to a real server?
You need root on something you are allowed to damage: a local virtual machine or a container is ideal. Do not practise permission changes, unit edits or package removals on a production host. Several exercises deliberately produce a broken system so that you can repair it.
